Starting Transitions Toward Employment Program - STTEP is a 14 week pre-employment program that helps youth in Sault Ste. Marie get their foot in the door to employment. The program is delivered by the YMCA and is funded by Service Canada. This program is geared to help at risk youth under the age of 30 find employment.

STTEP provides 4 weeks of classroom instruction in which the participants receive certifications in: First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, Smart Serve and Service Excellence. The participants also learn how to job search, build effective resumes and cover letters and learn tips on improving their interview skills. The participants have regular health and fitness sessions at the YMCA to encourage healthy lifestyles.
